Blood Tests and Urine Results

 I talked to Amy Svorinich, the ivf nurse coordinator and nurse manager at Boca Fertility. It is good I talked to her on the phone because she could not access the results from Quest since I had done them via U Health.

1. So first I sent her the Trypanosoma and the Cytomegalovirus.

Trypanosoma is a genus of kinetoplastids, a monophyletic group of unicellular parasitic flagellate protozoa. Trypanosoma is part of the phylum Sarcomastigophora. The name is derived from the Greek trypano- and soma because of their corkscrew-like motion.

 

 

 

Cytomegalovirus is a genus of viruses in the order Herpesvirales, in the family Herpesviridae, in the subfamily Betaherpesvirinae. Humans and other primates serve as natural hosts. The 11 species in this genus include human betaherpesvirus 5, which is the species that infects humans.

 

 2. Amy requested the rest of the blood tests, which I thought had been ordered by Dr Coleman, in which case, they are not part of what she ordered. But, I sent them anyway. The list below is what I had on my UHealth chart.

• HEMOGLOBIN AIC

A hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C) test is a blood test that shows what your average blood sugar (glucose) level was over the past two to three months. Glucose is a type of sugar in your blood that comes from the foods you eat.

• Lipid Panel
  

 A lipid profile or lipid panel is a panel of blood tests used to find abnormalities in lipids, such as cholesterol and triglycerides. The results of this test can identify certain genetic diseases and can determine approximate risks for cardiovascular disease, certain forms of pancreatitis, and other diseases.

•  Comprehensive Metabolic Panel

A comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP) is a test that measures 14 different substances in your blood. It provides important information about your body's chemical balance and metabolism. Metabolism is the process of how the body uses food and energy. A CMP includes tests for the following:

1. Glucose, a type of sugar and your body's main source of energy.
2. Calcium, one of the body's most important minerals. Calcium is essential for proper functioning of your nerves, muscles, and heart.
3. Sodium, potassium, carbon dioxide, and chloride. These are electrolytes, electrically charged minerals that help control the amount of fluids and the balance of acids and bases in your body.
4. Albumin, a protein made in the liver.
5. Total protein, which measures the total amount of protein in the blood.
6. ALP (alkaline phosphatase), ALT (alanine transaminase), and AST (aspartate aminotransferase). These are different enzymes made by the liver.
7. Bilirubin, a waste product made by the liver.
8. BUN (blood urea nitrogen) and creatinine, waste products removed from your blood by your kidneys.

•  Hepatitis C Ab
  

 This is the first test for determining whether you have been infected with hepatitis C. The results will come back as either positive or negative.
